Color&Shapes comes from the desire to tell the versatility and range of possibilities offered by the Color Studio collection of the Porcelaingres brand. The experience brings the tangibility and concreteness of the material closer to the narrative and scenographic power of animation and digital audio. Designed for a corporate event and then implemented for the Cersaie 2018 fair, the installation involves the user in the design of product surfaces, with a guided tour that combines the design of shapes and the choice of colors.

The characteristics of form and color correspond to two functional areas of the interactive table, identified by two different types of technologies: the shape is detected by a capacitive film able to perceive the touch on the surface of the ceramic slab, the color is read by an Arduino system, which identifies the RFID tag of each chromatic sample.

The experience begins by tracing with fingers the contour of a geometric shape on a plate, which, thanks to an artificial intelligence system, is associated with the element of the new collection closer to the features of the design. On the screen then the trace of a laying pattern is created, to which you can add successive shapes, create increasingly complex compositions, in a potentially infinite narration, based on the different combinations of shapes.

Shape interaction

The area dedicated to the choice of colors is composed of 8 cubic product samples marked with RFID tags, which show the different colors of the collection, and 8 recess under which are positioned Arduino boards able to read the tag of the chosen color. By moving the cubes on the recess, the user defines the palette and the composition pattern. By changing the order of colors, increasing or decreasing them, the user discovers new patterns and color systems.
